X image size checker
Choose an image to see its pixel size and whether it fits the X header (1500 × 500), profile photo (400 × 400) or in-stream post (1600 × 900) shapes. The image stays in your browser.
Choose a JPG, PNG, GIF or WebP image.
| Use | Size (px) | Shape |
|---|---|---|
| Header (banner) | 1500 × 500 | 3:1 |
| Profile photo | 400 × 400 | 1:1 |
| Post image (landscape) | 1600 × 900 | 16:9 |
| Post image (portrait) | 1080 × 1350 | 4:5 |
Why image size matters on X
X shows the header at a fixed wide shape, and it crops the profile photo to a circle. An image with the wrong shape gets cropped in places you did not plan for, so the main subject can end up cut off. Starting from the right size keeps the face, logo or text where you put it.
What this checker does
It reads the width and height of the image you choose and compares the shape with the sizes above. It does not upload your file, resize it or change it. To resize, use any image editor and export at the size shown in the table.
Questions people ask
What size should an X header image be?
Use 1500 × 500 pixels for the header, a 3:1 shape. Keep the important parts away from the edges, because the profile photo covers part of the lower left.
What size should a profile photo be?
Use 400 × 400 pixels, a square. X shows it as a circle, so keep the subject centered.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The checker reads the file in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
